The Idea Wall |
Here on the idea wall is the well of creativity. Vestiges of ideas for paintings appear, change, and disappear. It begs for blank canvases to fully realize the potential of some of its images. The idea wall is always growing
The beginning of a new canvas is always a special time, and one that is relatively rare. I will choose an idea, with help from family and friends, and recreate the idea on canvas at approximately the same level of detail. From there, the idea becomes complete, and also evolves, sometimes so much so that the finished piece no longer resembles the initial sketch.
To create the ideas, I will roughly sketch in pencil something I might want to paint. If I think it has potential, I will create a sketch in paint on heavyweight paper. Sometimes I leave completed ideas on the wall, and you can compare the finished piece with the sketch, an example below would be Goldfish Dreams.
